Hence, in alignment with the global observance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week this year, the Centre in partnership with Denk Pharmaceuticals took significant steps to highlight the importance of tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and promote the wise use of antibiotics.

The University Ghana Medical Centre Ltd (UGMC) joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Oral Health Day, 20th March 2024 under the global theme "A Happy Mouth, is a Happy Body". The event was organized to help raise awareness about the importance of good oral health and its impact on the overall well-being of individuals.

The second edition of the World Social Work Day was marked at the University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd (UGMC) on 25th March 2024. The CEO of the UGMC, Dr. Kwame Anim-Baomah who delivered the opening remarks emphasized the importance of the work being done by social workers in medical centres worldwide.

According to a pilot study conducted by a team at the neurosurgical department of the University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd (UGMC), with support from the Centre's research directorate, the highest number of deaths from the deadliest type of stroke (intracerebral haemorrhage) occurred between the ages of 36 and 45 years (38% of deaths recorded).
