Newsletter | Published March 16 2026

We bring you the third edition of the UGMC Newsletter on a rather sad note, even as we continue to showcase our remarkable achievements, inspiring stories, and significant milestones that took place during the first quarter of 2025. The UGMC community was thrown into a state of mourning as we lost one of our dedicated and hardworking specialists, Dr. Emmanuel Attuah Asante, on 14th January, 2025. Please flip through for snippets of the remembrance event held in his honour in this edition. We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul. We hope you find this edition both informative and uplifting as we celebrate our collective successes and continue to work to fulfil the vision of the Centre.

The Centre collaborated with Penn State Health (USA) from August 30 to September 6, 2024, to host the Otolaryngology Boot Camp, which empowered over 50 ENT surgeons and residents with essential skills for effective clinical management and professional development. Loosely based on the concept of military boot camps, participants actively engaged in various exercises and simulations designed to build competence in key psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains. The programme enhanced surgical skills and fostered collaboration among healthcare professionals from leading hospitals such as UGMC, Korle Bu, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
