Our services support patient care in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and specialist clinical settings, ensuring prompt and accurate diagnosis to inform effective treatment.
Scope of Ultrasound Services
UGMC offers a broad range of ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to:
1. General Abdominal and Pelvic UltrasoundLiver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder, and prostate evaluation.2. Obstetric and Gynaecological UltrasoundEarly pregnancy assessment, fetal growth and anomaly scans, pelvic ultrasound, fibroid assessment, and infertility-related imaging.3. Vascular Ultrasound and Doppler StudiesCarotid, peripheral arterial and venous Doppler, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) assessment, and obstetric Doppler studies.4. Cardiac and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)Focused cardiac assessment and bedside ultrasound supporting emergency and critical care services.5. Musculoskeletal and Soft Tissue UltrasoundEvaluation of tendons, muscles, joints, masses, and soft tissue pathology.6. Paediatric UltrasoundAge-appropriate imaging for neonatal and paediatric patients, performed with specialised protocols.

The Ultrasound Unit is equipped with modern, high-resolution ultrasound systems, incorporating Doppler imaging and advanced software to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Equipment is regularly maintained and upgraded in line with international standards.

Accessing Ultrasound Services
Ultrasound services are available through referral from UGMC clinics and external healthcare providers.
Appointments can be scheduled via the hospital’s booking system or at the Radiology Department front desk.
