Staff of the UGMC Pharmacy Directorate, led by the Director of Pharmacy, Dr. Josephine Mensah, proudly participated in the 84th FIP World Congress held in Montreal, Canada, from 30th August to 2nd September 2026.
The congress enabled our pharmacists to connect with pharmacy professionals and global health leaders worldwide.
A major highlight was the presentation of 10 research studies by our Pharmacy staff on the following topics:
- Antimicrobial Stewardship & Critical Care
- Patient-Centred Care & Communication
- Quality Improvement & Medication Safety
- Lean-Guided Inventory Management
- Pharmacy Workforce Development & Health Promotion
Beyond presenting work, the Congress gave our pharmacists valuable opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, build collaborations, and explore innovations shaping the future of pharmacy practice.
Collaborative meetings were also held with partners including the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association and Virginia Commonwealth University, with discussions focused on pharmacy practice, research, mentorship, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Our Pharmacists have since returned inspired to translate these global insights into better patient care, stronger pharmaceutical services, and continued research and innovation at UGMC.
Congrats to our pharmacists for distinguishing themselves on the global stage.
