OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
The Optometry Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) provides comprehensive eye care services focused on the assessment, diagnosis, management, and prevention of vision-related problems. The department plays an important role in promoting eye health through vision examinations, early detection of eye conditions, and appropriate management or referral for specialized ophthalmic care.
The department provides patient-centred services using modern eye care practices to support individuals of all ages. Working closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals, the Optometry Department helps improve visual health outcomes through preventive eye care, corrective vision services, patient education, and continuous monitoring of eye conditions.
