Family Medicine
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
The Family Medicine Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) provides comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centred healthcare services for individuals and families across all stages of life. The department focuses on preventive care, health promotion, early diagnosis, management of common and chronic conditions, and coordination of specialized healthcare services when required.
Through a holistic approach to healthcare delivery, the department addresses the physical, emotional, and social aspects of health while building long-term relationships with patients and families. The Family Medicine Department serves as an important point of entry into the healthcare system, providing integrated care and ensuring continuity and coordination between primary care and specialist services within UGMC.
