OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) provides specialized surgical and non-surgical care for conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other structures of the musculoskeletal system. The department offers comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation services for patients with orthopaedic injuries, degenerative conditions, and complex musculoskeletal disorders.
The department provides advanced orthopaedic care through a multidisciplinary approach involving orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. With access to modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, the department manages a wide range of conditions, from routine musculoskeletal problems to complex trauma and reconstructive procedures, to restore mobility, function, and quality of life for patients.
