Public Health

The Public Health Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) focuses on promoting population health, preventing diseases, and improving health outcomes through evidence-based public health strategies. The department supports the delivery of healthcare beyond individual patient treatment by addressing health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and community-oriented healthcare initiatives.

The department works collaboratively with clinical departments and other stakeholders to strengthen preventive healthcare practices, promote healthy behaviours, and support healthcare quality improvement initiatives. Through research, surveillance, education, and public health interventions, the department contributes to improving healthcare delivery and advancing the overall health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
