OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT
The Urology/Kidney Transplant Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) provides specialized medical and surgical care for conditions affecting the urinary system in both males and females, as well as disorders affecting the male reproductive system. The department offers comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with kidney, bladder, prostate, and other urological conditions.
The department also provides specialized kidney transplant services, supporting patients with advanced kidney disease through comprehensive assessment, transplant preparation, surgical care, and post-transplant monitoring. Through a multidisciplinary team approach involving urologists, nephrologists, transplant specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the department delivers high-quality, patient-centred care aimed at improving health outcomes and quality of life.
