PERIODONTIST - SENIOR SPECIALIST/CONSULTANT (PART-TIME)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in periodontist care.
- Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of dental periodontist services under the UGMC’s strategic direction.
- Take a lead role in ensuring that high clinical standards are met in the provision of specialist dental services.
- Play an active role in ensuring that appropriate healthcare services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of care.
- Contribute to monitoring the quality of dental practice.
- Facilitate the development of procedures and systems to assess and minimize risk to Medical/dental staff and others.
- Take a lead role in ensuring that the dental services provided meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of patients/clients.
- Act as an expert resource for implementing advanced practice, empowering dentists to take on a wider range of roles and skills.
- Take a lead role in ensuring that the objectives and targets in the department are met.
- Take a lead role in dental training.
- Take a lead role in maintaining skills and knowledge in the specialist fields through an agreed CPD plan, in line with the outcome of the annual appraisal process.
- Contribute to clinical supervision.
- Provide leadership and technical support to develop the protocols and guidelines relevant to the area of practice using a multi-disciplinary team.
- Take a lead role in promoting evidence-based practice.
- Plan, organize, and participate in specialist outreach services.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor of Dentistry or equivalent.
- A relevant postgraduate exit qualification to the level of a fellowship in Periodontology from a recognized postgraduate institution.
- A post-fellowship research work /publication.
- Leadership and management training.
- Continuing Professional Training in the field of relevant specialty.
