UGMC Pharmacist

Dr. (Pharm) Charlotte Clottey is a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Cardiology and currently serves as the Head of Cardiology Pharmacy at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). In this role, she leads a team dedicated to ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and reliable access to essential medications while promoting optimal therapeutic outcomes through patient-centered pharmaceutical care. 

Dr. Clottey has completed tertiary-level pharmacy education and postgraduate specialist training through the Ghana College of Pharmacists, with a focus on Cardiology Pharmacy and advanced clinical practice. 

Her area of expertise is Cardiology Pharmacy, with particular emphasis on the management of cardiovascular diseases and the optimization of medication therapy for cardiac patients. 

As Head of Cardiology Pharmacy, Dr. Clottey oversees pharmaceutical services within the cardiology specialty, ensuring the safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines. Her experience includes clinical pharmacy practice, medication therapy optimization, pharmacy operations management, and active participation in multidisciplinary patient care teams. 

Dr. Clottey's professional and research interests include cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, clinical leadership, and initiatives that improve medication use and patient outcomes in cardiovascular care. 

She possesses strong competencies in medication therapy management and medication reconciliation, patient counselling, team leadership, multidisciplinary team collaboration, sterile compounding, and inventory and procurement management. Her expertise enables her to support high-quality pharmaceutical care and efficient pharmacy operations. 

Dr. Clottey is a member of several professional organizations, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association of Ghana (GHOSPA), and the Ghana College of Pharmacists. 

She is proficient in English, Akan, and French.
