Profile 
Nana Ama Buadiba Osei is a Specialist Pharmacist in Infectious Diseases and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme Manager at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). She provides leadership in antimicrobial stewardship, quality management, research coordination, and drug information services within the Pharmacy Directorate. Her work focuses on promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobials, enhancing patient safety, improving healthcare quality, and supporting evidence-based clinical practice. 

Education 
Nana Ama obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree from the University of Ghana. She further earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Ghana and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Total Quality Management from the University of Professional Studies, Accra. She is also a Specialist Pharmacist in Infectious Diseases, having completed the Specialist Pharmacist Programme at the Ghana College of Pharmacists. 

Professional Experience 
Nana Ama has extensive experience in clinical pharmacy practice, infectious diseases pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, healthcare quality improvement, implementation research, and project management. As the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme Manager at UGMC, she leads initiatives aimed at optimizing antimicrobial use, reducing antimicrobial resistance, and improving patient outcomes. 

Beyond her role at UGMC, she served as the Deputy Technical In-Country Consultant for Ghana under the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association’s Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) Programme. She has contributed to the design, implementation, and evaluation of several quality improvement and antimicrobial stewardship interventions at both institutional and national levels.

Nana Ama's professional and research interests focus on antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance, medication safety, healthcare quality improvement, implementation science, and public health interventions that strengthen health systems and improve patient care. 

Skills and Competencies 
She possesses strong competencies in leadership, project management, clinical pharmacy practice, infectious disease management, healthcare quality improvement, policy development, research coordination, scientific writing, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and the training and mentorship of healthcare professionals. She is also experienced in developing clinical guidelines, educational resources, and quality improvement programmes. 

Professional Memberships and Committees 
Nana Ama actively contributes to institutional and professional initiatives through her membership and leadership roles in several committees and organizations. She serves as Executive Secretary of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Assistant Secretary of the Quality Management Committee, and Secretary of the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week Celebration Committee at UGMC. 

She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the FIP Hospital Pharmacy Section Research Committee (WHoPReC), the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.
