Dr. Ama Kaki Ghunney is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), with over 14 years of clinical experience. She is a subspecialist in Gynaecological Oncology, with expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, surgical management, and multidisciplinary treatment of premalignant and malignant gynaecological conditions. 

Her clinical practice focuses on providing comprehensive and compassionate care for women with gynaecological cancers, including cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. She is committed to evidence-based and patient-centred healthcare delivery, while contributing to improved outcomes in women’s health through clinical practice, research, medical education, mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives.

Dr. Ama Kaki Ghunney is an experienced Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with specialised training in Gynaecological Oncology. She provides comprehensive care for women with premalignant and malignant conditions affecting the female reproductive system. 

Her clinical expertise encompasses gynaecological cancer prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, surgical management, and multidisciplinary care. She has a strong interest in improving access to quality gynaecological oncology services, particularly in resource-limited settings, while promoting evidence-based approaches to women’s healthcare. 

Through her clinical practice, teaching, mentorship, and research activities, Dr. Ghunney continues to contribute to the advancement of gynaecological oncology and the training of future healthcare professionals. 

Dr. Ghunney’s professional and research interests include the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer, management of gynaecological cancers including cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers, colposcopy and management of cervical precancerous conditions, improving access to quality gynaecological cancer care in low-resource settings, women’s health research, and medical education. 

Dr. Ama Kaki Ghunney possesses expertise in comprehensive gynaecological oncology care, gynaecological cancer surgery, colposcopy and management of cervical precancerous lesions, cervical cancer screening and prevention, benign gynaecological surgery, general obstetric and gynaecological care, clinical teaching and mentorship, clinical research, and quality improvement. 

Dr. Ghunney currently has no national board or committee memberships to declare. 

Dr. Ama Kaki Ghunney holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Human Biology and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree. She is a Member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (MGCPS) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Member of the West African College of Surgeons (MWACS) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She also holds a Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology from the College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Gynaecological Oncology from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. 

Dr. Ghunney is proficient in the English, Ewe and Twi languages.
