- Coordinates inputs for the formulation of policies and regulations within allied health disciplines.
- Lead in the development of effective clinical governance for allied health, scientific and technical disciplines with a focus on consistency across divisions and interdisciplinary team working.
- Ensures the delivery of appropriate allied health profession, scientific and technical services to maximize UGMC’s realization of its strategic goals and objectives.
- Participate and provide leadership as a key stakeholder in change management programmes related to service delivery improvements to promote acceptance within UGMC.
- Provide advice on various services, policies, programmes, systems, processes procedures, capacity building, security and strategies for the allied health section of the Medical Centre.
- Establish systems to demonstrate the quality and impact of allied health, scientific and technical practice.
- Facilitate execution projects, service developments or restructuring and research opportunities for allied health staff.
- Develop updates and ensure implementation of appropriate clinical care standards for allied health, scientific and technical workforces across allied health disciplines.
- Identify “gaps” within allied health, scientific and technical practice and service delivery and make appropriate recommendations.
- Represent allied health and organizational strategies at appropriate forums.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Educational Qualifications and Experience
a. Essential Requirements
- Must have a minimum of Postgraduate Degree (Masters) in any allied health discipline from a recognized University.
- Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council with a valid practicing license.
- Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years post first degree in allied health profession working experience, five (5) years of which must be at senior/management level.
b. Desirable Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant field
- Must have a qualification in Management/Administration.
- Show evidence of leadership and continuing professional development.
2. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes
- Experience of planning and implementing service developments.
- Experience of policy and standards development.
- Research experience.
- A broad knowledge base of UGMC policies and operating procedures.
- A broad knowledge base of the Standards of Allied Health Services and SOPs and Guidelines.
- Knowledge of UGMC Patient Charter and quality assurance issues.
- Knowledge of health and safety.
- Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative, lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to organize and manage workload and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a methodological approach to work.
- Ability to take initiative and to influence others positively
