 DENTAL RESTORATIVE SENIOR SPECIALIST (FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in health care delivery in restorative dentistry.
  • Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of dental restorative services per the UGMC’s strategic direction.
  • Take a lead role in ensuring that high clinical standards are met in the provision of specialist dental services.
  • Play an active role in ensuring that appropriate healthcare services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of care.
  • Contribute to monitoring the quality of dental practice.
  • Facilitate the development of procedures and systems to assess and minimize risk to Medical/dental staff and others.
  • Take a lead role in ensuring that the dental services provided meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of patients/clients.
  • Act as an expert resource for implementing advanced practice, empowering dentists to take on a wider range of roles and skills.
  • Take a lead role in ensuring that the objectives and targets in the department are met.
  • Take a lead role in dental training.
  • Take a lead role in maintaining skills and knowledge in the specialist fields through an agreed CPD plan, in line with the outcome of the annual appraisal process.
  • Contribute to clinical supervision.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to develop the protocols and guidelines relevant to the area of practice using a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Take a lead role in promoting evidence-based practice.
  • Plan, organize, and participate in specialist outreach services.

Educational Qualification and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent.
  • A relevant postgraduate exit qualification to the level of a Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry from a recognized postgraduate institution.
  • A post-fellowship research work /publication.
  • Leadership and management training.
  • Continuing Professional Training in the field of relevant specialty.
