The mission of the Emergency Department at UGMC is to provide the highest quality and timely care to patients presenting for emergency treatment, to offer outstanding educational opportunities for medical, nursing, and allied health personnel, and to further medical knowledge through the pursuit of research.
Our vision is to create an emergency care system that engages our patients and the entire health care system to deliver solutions to the growing need and complexity of emergency medical care in Ghana.

Emergency Medicine is the first and crucial front line for responding to spur-of-the-moment and undifferentiated patients of all ages in life threatening situations. Our highly skilled, dedicated and patient centred ED team provide an environment that promotes compassion and respect for our patients and their families using the highest ethical standards and rational use of resources while managing pain at every level of care.
