The UGMC Management

 

Mr Kwame Boakye is the Director of Internal Audit at UGMC.

He has worked in the internal audit field since 2009 and has experience in internal controls, risk management, governance processes, financial reporting and auditing standards. 

Education  

Kwame holds a Master’s degree in Internal Auditing and a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Professional Studies and University of Cape Coast respectively. Kwame also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Management from Coventry University, UK. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) with over eight years post qualification experience. 

Other professional qualifications Kwame has to his credit include Advance Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Ghana and currently receiving certification for the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

Work Experience 

Beginning a tertiary education career in the internal audit function, Kwame has led different audit teams at the University of Cape Coast. He has a wealth of experience in the internal audit space. He has contributed to several reforms in the structures of the Directorate of Internal Audit, University of Cape Coast and the University in general. He contributes to discussions in the areas of internal auditing in Internal Audit 360 and ICAG Accountants Journals. Kwame has taught at the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast Sandwich Programme as a part-time lecturer in Financial Reporting and Auditing. He has also taught Microsoft Office Suite and Graphic Designing software for one and a half years. Kwame has provided guidance to a lot of accounting practitioners on how to qualify accounting professional examinations. 

Professional Research Interests 

Mr. Kwame Boakye’s research interest lies in the area of Risk Management, Internal Controls, and Accounting Standards.
