Dr. Kwame Anim-Boamah is the Chief Executive Officer of the University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd (UGMC).

Dr. Anim-Boamah is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who until his new appointment was the Director of Medical Affairs at the UGMC (2020-2023). Prior to his appointment by the UGMC, he was the Medical Director of the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
Education
He attended Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC) Legon for both his ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels and continued to the University of Ghana Medical School in 1992. He undertook his housemanship training at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. After working for almost two years at Battor Catholic Hospital, in the Volta Region of Ghana as a Medical Officer, he returned to the Korle-Bu in July 2002 to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology for his postgraduate studies. Upon completion of his postgraduate specialization in April 2008, Dr. Anim-Boamah became a fellow of the West African College of Physicians and Surgeons. With a strong passion for serving the underserved, he opted to go to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua in September 2008 because he knew the hospital did not have an Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the time. In 2014, Dr. Anim-Boamah enrolled at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) for a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Health Services Administration) where he was awarded as the overall best MBA student upon completion.

Work Experience
During his tenure as the Medical Director of the Eastern Regional Hospital in 2013, the National Health Insurance conducted a nationwide assessment of hospitals. It awarded the Hospital as the overall best Regional Hospital. Under his leadership, the hospital was completely transformed through massive renovation of buildings, landscaping and acquisition of new equipment and promoting excellent and quality patient care. In 2018, Dr. Anim-Boamah was also adjudged the overall best Medical Doctor of the Year at the fourth National Medical Excellence Awards, organized by the Medical Excellence Awards Council, a private foundation established in 2011. Dr. Anim-Boamah is passionate about excellent, compassionate and quality patient care and as an astute Obstetrician/Gynaecologist is committed to helping reduce maternal mortality in Ghana.
