KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead in the development of clinical care policies, guidelines, protocols and standards.
- Facilitate and coordinate the functions of Medical and Surgical Specialties, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery, Medical Laboratory, Diagnostics and Imaging Departments/Directorates.
- Lead in the definition, type, level, and mix of clinical care services.
- Lead in the development of systems for monitoring and evaluation of clinical care services across the UGMC.
- Contribute to the planning of capital development projects.
- Ensure quality assurance programmes are in place.
- Contribute to policy development, analysis and review.
- Contribute to the development of medium/long-term strategic plans and the implementation and evaluation of health policies.
- Contribute to the development of in-service and post-basic training programmes for clinical care.
- Coordinate Clinical teaching and Postgraduate Clinical programs.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualification
– Fellowship of a Medical Professional Body (e.g. GPGC, WACS).
– Qualification in a Health Management or related field (at least a HAM certificate) is a MUST.
– Evidence of leadership and continuing professional development and training in Health Management.
Knowledge & Experience
– A minimum of FIFTEEN (15) years cumulative clinical experience, FIVE (5) years of which must be at the Secondary/ Tertiary level of care.
– A minimum of FIVE (5) years working experience within the total of 15 years in (1) above MUST be in a hospital management/ leadership position.
– Minimum FIVE (5) years of fellowship working experience.
– A broad knowledge base and experience in the development and implementation of policies and operating procedures, quality assurance and coordinating and implementing research and development programmes.
– Evidence of research output and experience in service development.
Skills & Abilities
– Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work on own initiative, lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to organize and manage workload and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
