Mr. Richard Aggrey is a cybersecurity executive, digital transformation strategist, healthcare technology leader, and researcher with more than nineteen years of experience in enterprise technology, cybersecurity, governance, cloud transformation, and digital health. As Deputy Director and Head of Information Technology at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), he provides strategic and operational leadership for the Centre’s technology ecosystem. His professional experience spans healthcare, higher education, aviation, and other technology-driven sectors, enabling him to apply innovative technology solutions within complex and highly regulated environments. He is particularly focused on leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency, strengthen cybersecurity, enhance healthcare delivery, and drive sustainable digital transformation. 

At UGMC, he has led initiatives involving enterprise systems implementation, cybersecurity and risk management, cloud technologies, secure wireless infrastructure, artificial intelligence adoption, and IT capacity development, supporting the Centre’s commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare.

Mr. Richard Aggrey joined the University of Ghana Medical Centre in November 2019 as Deputy Director and Head of Information Technology, where he continues to provide leadership for the Centre’s information technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation agenda. 

Prior to joining UGMC, he served as IT Manager at Passion Air Limited, where he was responsible for information security, technology infrastructure management, project delivery, IT governance, and budget management. Before this, he spent over a decade at Ghana Communication Technology University as a Senior Network Systems Administrator, supporting network infrastructure, data centre operations, disaster recovery, IT service management, network security, and technology asset management. 

Earlier in his career, he held technology and technical leadership roles with Apex Pollution Control Company Limited, DHL Ghana Limited, An-Systems Limited, GDS Africa, and 5M Ghana Limited, where he gained broad experience across enterprise technology and operational environments. 

Mr. Aggrey’s professional and research interests include cybersecurity, healthcare information technology, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital health, healthcare interoperability, telemedicine security, blockchain technologies, digital forensics, and enterprise digital transformation.

Mr. Richard Aggrey holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Information Technology from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMU).
