Head of Imaging Department

Dr. Daniel Amankrah is a distinguished Diagnostic Radiologist at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where he has served since 1 November 2021. In recognition of his leadership and expertise, he was appointed Head of the Imaging Department on 1 September 2025.

Prior to joining UGMC, Dr. Amankrah gained extensive clinical and radiological experience at several leading healthcare institutions, including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Nsawam Government Hospital, and Koforidua Regional Hospital. He is known for his clinical excellence, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality diagnostic imaging services.

Education and Training
Dr. Amankrah completed his secondary education at Science Proprietary Centre Secondary School (Warri, Nigeria), where he obtained his BECE and WASSCE. He pursued his medical education at the University of Ghana Medical School, earning a BSc and MBChB in 2011.

He completed his two-year housemanship at the Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, followed by three years of medical practice at Nsawam Government Hospital. He subsequently undertook specialist training in Diagnostic Radiology at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Research Interests
Dr. Amankrah has a strong interest in technological advancements in diagnostic radiology and is a member of the research team involved in human trials of Nanox ARC technology (3D imaging model).
